I recently improved the energy efficiency of my 1991 bungalow with SolarSmart, and I’m thrilled with the results. Initially, I explored the One Stop Shop initiative but faced frustrating communication gaps and escalating costs. Realizing I could manage the project better myself, I sought SolarSmart’s help directly. The One Stop Shop quoted an exorbitant price for a wide ranging package that included just four solar panels and no battery—far too high for my needs and fell short of my requirements for sustainabuility. Instead, I replaced my windows and doors and had SolarSmart install 12 photovoltaic (PV) panels, an inverter, a 5kW battery, a diverter, and a monitoring system. Remarkably, I achieved a B3 energy rating for less than half the One Stop Shop's cost, with the potential for a B1 rating next year. SolarSmart: An Exceptional Team From my first interaction with Gearoid in sales, I felt confident in SolarSmart. He assessed my needs thoroughly and explained everything clearly. This professionalism extended throughout the team, who effectively communicated in layman's terms. The installation team, featuring skilled professionals from Kilkenny, Cork, and an Aussie in Waterville worked seamlessly together, creating a positive atmosphere. They maintained a clean workspace and provided excellent guidance on managing the system post-installation. Outstanding Support and Aftercare After installation, severe thunderstorms caused my battery to go offline. I reached out to SolarSmart and received prompt assistance from director, Paolo, who assured me he would oversee the resolution. Mike from support contacted me within an hour and expertly handled the situation. A few weeks later, when I had a minor issue with a component, the operations team guided me through troubleshooting over the phone. Their commitment to quick, effective support was evident. Worth Every Penny Is installing PV panels with a battery worth it? Absolutely. Since August, my electricity bills have dropped dramatically—from an average of €150-250 per month to just €70 in August and then €30.59 for this September. Even with unpredictable weather, my September bill averaged just €1 a day. This investment not only saves money but also aligns with my values around sustainability and reducing my carbon footprint. Final Thoughts Looking back, my only regret is not contacting SolarSmart sooner. Their dedication to customer satisfaction is exceptional. If you're considering energy efficiency upgrades, I wholeheartedly recommend SolarSmart. They’ve transformed my home and restored my faith in customer service. Well done, SolarSmart!

They were very professional and although we encountered a few problems due to ground conditions, they persisted until all the issues were solved. They were punctual and they did exactly as they promised so I would really recommend them.

All round very good service from initial quote through to installation and guidance on operating the system. In addition, processing SEAI grants and grid feed in details handled seamlessly.

Installed 14 panels, eddi and 5.3kw battery in Dublin 15. Spoke to multiple suppliers and SolarSmart were professional, accommodating and responsive to my requirements. From the first interaction with the sales team, through to 2 site visits and multiple back and forth adjusting the specifications through to the the site install, the entire team were helpful, friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure I was satisfied. The electricians and roofers were professional and took me through all of the Apps to operate he system. Highly recommended.

Everything was fully explained , had an excellent installation team , all finished in 6 hours , delighted with the result , my energy bill has halved , what's not to like about that.

We decided to look into going Solar around October last year (2023) and did all our research before contacting about 10 different companies. The first one we had call out to the house was William from Solar Smart. He was very knowledgeable, no BS and to be honest set the bar high for the other installers. Any questions we had where answered and communication was great. There were other installers that came in cheaper but after doing all my research, reading reviews etc... Solar Smart just fitted the bill for us so it felt right to spend a bit more to have the peace of mind that we would be looked after. We were given a date for our installation but got a call to say we could be moved up the list so got them in a couple of weeks earlier than previously agreed. No complaints there. On the day of the installation, we had a large crew turn up early in the morning and they got stuck in. Before they left, the place was left spotless. When they were testing the battery, they noticed that it was faulty. We were told that they would be back the next morning with another one and true to their word, a new battery was put in first thing the next day. All our paperwork was handled by Solar Smart and we had a BER assessment done a few weeks after the installation, and shortly after that we had our grant. The whole process was so smooth and everything has been working great these last few months. We also got a follow up call from William to check on how everything was going after about a month. The after sales service is just top notch. Easy to recommend Solar Smart.

Recommended by a colleague the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. They came and looked at the house and proposed a design and described what would happen with all aspects of the project, with dates, paperwork, the BES inspection and the SAEI grant application and closure. it all happened just as they described it on day one. We agreed an installation date following the order to proceed and the deposit payment, the installers arrived arrived at 7.30 on the morning we agreed and the panels were installed by mid day, the internal electrical work was done by a different crew and they finished at 4pm and spent time explaining how it worked and installed the app on our phones then tidied up all their stuff and the worksites before they left. Good serious professional people who were excellent to deal with. A few weeks later the BES inspector came and issued the certificate the same day, again very professional and a good communicator. A few weeks later the SAEI inspector came and looked for the documents and examined every aspect of the installation, again professional efficient and on time. He told us how long it takes to process the grant payment and that is exactly what happened, an email confirming the payment had been processed and we are all done. We put in 12 panels and a 5kw battery and it was installed in the first week in February, wet winter but we still have generated 1545 kwh to date (28 May) and are paying on average €21 per week inc fixed charges.
