Avoid this company at all cost, last straw was I was away for 30 days and came back to a big bi-monthly bill of €500 meter read! Insane as I unplugged everything before travelling, My bills over the last 3-4 years never surpassed €150-200 max. And now every bill comes in at 350-400 eur and I never use heating, they are now increasing their costs by 30% and then over charge you ontop with pirate misreads. I’ve gone from €1,200 a year max to €3,000 bills per year and nothing has changed with my usage at home. Don’t trust them at all and after reading the reviews here looks like I’m not the only one. Don’t use electric Ireland cause you will realise the hard way being stuck with outrageous bills you don’t deserve.

Really poor customer service. I was holding for 20minutes and then I have been cut off because your man didn't want to talk to me. Signed up contract in May 2021 and they put their prices up twice since not even having decency to send your customers an email. I was told the spread the information in the news-seriously? They can do whatever the want and your contract is only to secure them.

Disgraceful experience. With the company for 8 months in one premises and when moved to other they sent a bill for over €1500 without any explanation of charge. Extremely rude and threatening on the phone also. Stay clear, offered them a settlement too and to continue with their account but they didn't want it. Will never use again and will be recommending others to stay away. Not to mention that all bills had been paid on the account prior to changing address. As to your social media team thank you but no thanks!

Hello, I have been with this company for 12 years. I never have once missed a payment, since I been with the company and never got any promotions or offer that you offer you customers. I'm unable to speak to any customer service agent. Very poor service for loyal customers

Just recently signed up with electric Ireland, and they promised for the €200 bonus credit. My electric bill was forwarded to me just one month after switch and the bill was deducted straigh through my bank account. I called in to ask about the bonus credit I entitled, the agent told me I used up in my last bill? Have had a lot of stress and wasted a lot of time dealing with electric Ireland.

I moved into a new house and switched to Electric Ireland on 21 October 2021. I received an email titled "Hello and welcome to Electric Ireland. Your switch is now in motion". The email read "Thank you for joining Electric Ireland and choosing our Electricity and Gas price plan. In the next four weeks you’ll receive your account number. If you’re moving from another supplier, your account will be switched over during this time." Today, I returned home to find that my electricity had been cut off. The previous supplier has cut the supply it seems. Having spent an hour waiting to speak to someone in Electric Ireland who could "help" me, I was told that there are currently long delays in Electric Ireland of up to 6 weeks. My MPRN is not recorded as registered with EI and there is nothing they can do for me. All I can do is contact the old supplier, who the previous house owners used, and ask them to reactivate the supply. I've had to leave the house for the night as I have no electricity, including no heat - it is 3°C. I have no idea what will happen when I speak with the other supplier tomorrow as I have no relationship with them. So I have absolutely no idea when I will have power back and Electric Ireland who welcomed me on 21 October and confirmed my switch was was motion, can do nothing for me. Beyond frustrated and furious with this outrageous situation.

With this company for dual fuel.Where do I start only to say stay away from them.Greedy- highly profitable publicly owned company yet gouging customers all over the country with multiple huge price increases. Changed my billing cycle recently without informing me landing me two bills on the same day.Their customer charter states testing customers with courtesy and respect.Pure waffle.Only interested in gouging customers and don't care about them.Dont get back to when you ring and don't respond to complaints. A complete joke.STAY AWAY!!!

Number one fraud company in Ireland. Please don't even try thinking about electric Ireland. I used bright energy they charged only less than 50 Euro for month. Now am using Bord gais energy they are charging 115 Euro for 2 months. In between 34 days I used electric Ireland they changed me 336.62 Euro. And I contacted customer service they told me that we pay this much😳.... To be frank it's robbery.

Revised my review from 1 to 3 stars. Una in Social Media team has been a huge help to my issue. All the credits go to her. She raised issue and filed a complaint internally for me. Without her help, I would be still back forth dealing with their incompetent customer services team. Her communication skill is excellent and she listens, understands the issue and follow through! Old review: Absolutely avoid this company. Over charge customers and refuse to give full refund. Wanted to make a complaint to CRU, ignore you and not giving the complaint number. Awful customer services. Their customer services based on the assumptions that you are lying! Avoid this company to save your pain in future.

Our usual bi-monthly bill was 150-200€ over 2021. We were charged over €500 for November and December 2021 (we were away for Christmas for a month so there was no electricity being used for half of the time, nobody in the house for 4 weeks). I guessed that they over estimated so I paid thinking that I would at least be crediting my next bill when the meter was read. Our next bill is €700. How is that possible? We are not using more electricity...we are using less. Its crazy. Hoping to speak to customer services today but that depends if they answer the phone.

Charged me 4300€ for two years in single bedroom apartment even though I was paying bills for about 120€ every two months. Absolute rip off. Now I'm trying to investigate so I involved Citizens information and CCDC. On Friday 19th November I sent an email to customer service inquiring Subject Data Request. I asked for all my information on my file to be sent to me as by the law I have my rights to access all information about me. No one replied to my email so far. This company is an absolute joke.

Big mess. My landlord set me up with this company in my last two residences. Despite the super-clear emails sent by my landlord, both times they got our names and address wrong. Then they start sending angry letters claiming to pay a 200 euro deposit to the incorrect address, which of course made them more angry and threatening. We happened to get one of them forwarded through the management office of our development. When they disconnected us from our previous home, my landlord sent them an email and they ignored it. I had to call 15 days later to get disconnected. Additionally, my landlord took an incorrect closing reading and I ended up with a bill of 300 euro for 12 days of usage. Not Electric Ireland's fault, but their customer service made fixing this unnecessarily hard - they would refuse to accept the correct reading unless I sent it matching some crazy requirements (picture of my meter including a newspaper headline from that day).

Signed up for payment by direct debit and email billing. Have never received bill by email therefore having to monitor on website for billing amount and due date. Rang customer services to query why no email billing. No reason or explanation and more importantly no solution forthcoming. Suggested that gmail and or phone may be to blame. Customer service representative dumped my call on pretence of escalating problem. Shockingly poor service. Suspect customer service is out sourced. Even if it's not, general air of disinterest by staff whose aim, or so it appears, is to get you of the line ASAP.

ZEROOOOOOOOO STARS - Electric Ireland are a collection of idiots and scumbags. I have never, ever seen such a poor customer service as Electric Ireland. Last year at the beginning of July, I called them to inform them that I moved to a new address. I gave them the meter reading of the previous address and paid for what was left then I gave them the meter reading from new address, set up a direct debit and all sorted. A few days later, I received a letter confirming the direct debit setup. I waited to get the new bill. Months passed and nothing came through the post. An Electric Ireland employee came and took the meter reading but no bill was issued to me. I called them and spoke with a lady, she said that I was registered with them and I should be getting the bill shortly. Instead of the bill, a guy with a van from ESB came to my house (before Christmas last year) saying that he was ordered to disconnect me because I am not registered with any supplier. I explained him that I called at least twice the Electric Ireland and gave them the MPRN, whatever they asked me, I even showed him letters from Electric Ireland, I also had a print screen from online account I set it up with electric Ireland, dates, so on……he did not care. He had a job to do. I told him to hold on to call again the Electric Ireland. I called them and asked what is going on. There was a fellow here to disconnect my electric supply. I explained to him that I had already spoken with two other customer service employees and told that I was registered with them. I went again with the customer service through the registration process. Another month and so had passed. On the 23rd of January the meter, reading was taken again but no bill was issued. A week later a person from Electric Ireland, knocked at my door, asking if I want to switch the supply to Electric Ireland. I was speechless. I started again stating that I am with Electric Ireland, he showed me his device that my house was on red colour, meaning that I am not with them. If I was with them, it supposed to be green colour. I asked him to make it green because I am already with them….:) He called the customer service. The lady on the phone could not find my name in the system either. Only when I gave her the account number she eventually found me saying that the account looks fine. I went through this process again…..finally they found out that I was registered but it was a problem within their office and now it has been corrected. After 7 months since moved I got a ESB connection letter confirmation on the current address. After the meter reading I got a warmly welcome bill of 675 euros due in a week but with my previous address on it!!!. If I do not pay they will disconnect me, or I do not know. They are not responsible at all. They lose nothing,

Absolutely disgraceful company. Treated my parents who have Dementia, with absolute contempt. My advice, stay away from this company. Don't bother Electric Ireland, replying to this, you have had countless emails and calls to have sorted my parents issue out. My parents have been with Electric Ireland for years, looking forward to seeing their Contract ending soon. How does one Department not know another ? Why should we have to contact the Social Media department and not Customer Service?? Maybe the Social Media department should start getting in touch Customer Service department and see the treatment its giving to its customers!!! Anyway, I will never recommend this company. Totally unforgivable behaviour. Electric Ireland you were giving plenty of opportunity to put things right. I have been in contact with the Ombudsman and the Government Department that looks after these issues. Don't believe any of replies from Electric Ireland under reviews. Nothing will be done to resolve your issues. Trust me. Update, after promising my parents that they would not send paper bills and the bank mandate was sorted. Guess what arrived in the post this morning??? A paper bill stating that the bill wasn't sorted!!! You really can't much lower than this company!!!

Make sure to keep a close eye on your bills with this company my god. All of a sudden they just spike to double your usual amount and they call it an estimate. when asked how they are arrived at an estimate double the amount I have ever paid they just request a meter reading . It is almost impossible to give them a meter reading and I was told cannot be done over the phone . I have sent countless emails back and forth and they wont except my hd photos of meter readings and proof of dates. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND STAY WELL CLEAR!!

Overcharged for 300 euros and after to speaking to 13 people for over 3.5 hours and several promises that I would get a refund had multiple operator hand up the phone on me. The WORST service ive seen in my life. STAY AWAY!!!!

Received a bill of over 200 euro for less than one months usage. Turns out it was based on an erroneous meter reading by one of your staff, it took 2 months to get the money back from that bill and now you've sent a second bill to me based on the INCORRECT usage from the first bill, charging me over 550 euro for two months usage, with again a grossly incorrect meter reading. Absolute cowboys stealing money and it's very slow to get it sorted

The worst customer service team I've ever experienced. Unprofessional, poor English speaking skills and sounded quite condescending. (Pretending they couldnt hear me) putting me on hold for no reason and not getting back in contact with me when they said they would ring back . Doesn't even deserve that one star rating. Horrible!

The worst company to deal with. Check your bills good few times as they like to cheat, charge incorrect amounts and fees, reverse refunds and so on. If tou call them at working hours don't be surprised that they will hang up or tell you off.
