Terrible experience. They went back in time 3 years and made the bills more than twice the amount of what I am using and request me to pay 4000 euro. Scammers. Avoid at all cost. I submitted a reading on phone with support which they claim was OK at the time but then they denied it without telling me and estimated their own amounts. Absolute ripoff company
I would just like to put in writing how dissatisfied I am with the so-called customer service from electric Ireland. Customer service is a joke!!! It's none existent! You are left on hold for an inordinately long time and if you do eventually get through to someone all that will happen is that they will plamass you and then not act on their promises to you. I moved house earlier this year and wanted to transfer my account with electric Ireland but I was told I would have to open a new account at my new address. This was fine, I didn't have a problem with that but I was in credit with my old account. Upon asking about said credit, I was told that the credit couldn't be transferred to my new account but have to be refunded. I was also ok with that. I was told it would take 10 working days. This was on the 23rd of January 2023 (THIRTY working days ago!!!). Now after several phone calls and having been left on hold for long periods to get through to someone on those calls I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND! All I can say is that electric Ireland are long on promises and very short on action. If I owed electric Ireland money they would be very quick to chase me for it but when the boot is on the other foot and they owe me money I can't get them to refund it. Please don't ask me to contact you through my social media accounts I do have social media accounts but I am not interested in Aoife or anybody else brushing this to one side to be dealt with out of public view. I just want action! So no more words and no more promises electric Ireland just pay me back the money you owe me. If it had been possible I would have given a no star review. Dolores Harte
Very unreliable, the staff are not helpful when asked questions & the wait time is too long. One in particular was trying to sort out a bill that came because I wanted to pay manually rather than setting it up to pay automatically from my bank. If there's any other company that has a slim chance of being more reliable I'd say go with them instead
Absolutely awful customer service - go with any other supplier, just don't go with Electric Ireland! And if you do choose to go with Electric Ireland, try to not give them your bank details under any circumstances. Waiting on a refund for weeks from an account that I closed months prior to them taking payment for a bill for a period (after I had closed the account!). The estimated bill for a 2 month period was more than 1.5 times the value of our total annual usage for the entire previous year! Mistakes happen, I get that, but it's the misleading information that I have been given on each of the many many calls I've made to try and see where my money is that really annoys me.
Worst company ever! If you want to never get your cash deposit back, subscribe ! It’s just unbelievable, it’s been a month and half we’re trying to get our money back… They lied and said the refund is processing, then they asked for a paper that we can send only by post Then they said they received everything and it’s in process and that it will take 5-7 working days, we’re trying to get answers to know why we still have nothing but no answer. And if it’s Monika who answers, good luck…
Was told about a strong discount on offer. Rang Electric Ireland, spoke with a nice woman in loyalty. Updated our electric tariff. Based on the conversation, she suggested we move to gas rate. I agreed, and she transferred me to sales. 10 mins later I realized something wasn't right so I hung up and called back. Got through to sales quite quickly, they couldn't make the update for a technical reason so took my details and told me I'd get a call back. Never happened. Rang a few days later, same thing - told I would get a call back. Never did. Quite surprised when I am trying to give them additional business. Also it's quite clear that Electric Ireland value making sales more than keeping existing customers as when you call their sales department you get through within 5 mins whereas when you call their customer service department, you'll be on hold at least 45 mins, and more often than not you'll end up getting hung up on before you get through to a customer service agent.
Had a really complicated confusion with my gas bill. Shifa from Electric Ireland was kind enough to make me understand my bill and explain the issues. She was patient, polite and calmly, explained the minor details and answered multiple questions. Thank you Shifa!
Called 3 times to review my account. Waiting for excessively long periods, Put on hold twice and then agent hung up on me. On 3rd call was eventually told after holding for ages the department who deals with that is closed? Time to switch away from this lot
Charged me for using electricity from end of November 2022 until mid February 2023 when I only bought the house and moved in at the end of January 2023. Rang and flagged this incorrect bill before the direct debit was taken from my account and was told it would be frozen and not taken from my account. Come the day the direct debit was due, sure enough it was debited from my account. Needed to ring again and said it’s still being processed and I’ll get reimbursed soon. Not good enough from the people who provide energy to most of the nation during these trying times. Criminal behaviour overcharging like this and I bet I’m not that only one
If I could give zero stars I would, ringing electric ireland for the 4th time this month, firstly to get added onto the billing account and then asking for a letter to be sent out with myself and my fiancées name on it so we'd have proof of address to set up a joint account and they can't even do that 4 times ringing them 4 letters they sent out with just my fiancées name on it. I try to ring them and I was put on hold while my query was looked into and I was hung up on. Very disappointing customer service
Spent the day trying to contact EI, finally got a response after 34 minutes, totally unhelpful. I cant get a bill by post, one will be sent in the next 24 hours by email and the online account enquiry DOES NOT work on my account. I was told to "try another device" although my PC is a working machine for all other transactions. Tried my phone, same issue. Electric Ireland say there is nothing wrong on their side, its my machine (!!!!), but say their software is not supported by all browsers!!!!. They did not say "Get stuffed" but thats the polite conclusion. Must be great to be that arrogant to your paying customer.
It's an absolute disgrace the amount of profit electric Ireland are making from people who are on their knees already. Raising the prices 110% over the last 2 years and expecting us all to be grateful with the 10% drop. Vile.
They have evil customer service. I know more than them. They are definitely not helpful. Never choose this company They made a mistake. They took my 854 euro. I called them 8 times , 4 e-mail . I didn't get my money. It is been 1 month .
Disgraceful company and appalling customer service, would give zero stars if I could. Was told back in October that a discount would be applied to my account as I was a new customer, no discount was applied so I rang back this week only to be told they would not honour a discount and that I was free to look elsewhere infact I was actually encouraged to by one of the staff ?! Then I was taunted that I wouldn’t find anywhere cheaper. How blatantly rude and dismissive. No way to build a relationship with new customers.
Awoid this company! The worst customer service I have ever come across. I had multiple issues during the 3 month stay with EI. It takes them 10 working days to send and deal with issues internaly!!! They set up a direct debit on closed account so I suggest to keep an eye on your bank account.Due to their reactive approach and lack of advisory on EI part I lost €200 provided by government. When you ring them they agree with you but do nothing to help. Very disappointing...
I was charged for electricity twice even if im not living in that place nearly 4 years. My only mistake was that i was trying to renew my contract with this company. Now im have weekly calls to this company looking for my money ans every time im been asked wait another 5 days then 7 last time they ask me call after 10 days. Its absolutely joke and disrespectful the way i was treated by customer service and company. They making mistakes and i have to look my money and waist my time spend 2 h on phone.
The customer service is abysmal. I send in a complaint to their customer service team on November 1st. Their customer charter says that they resolve things within 10 days. After 10 weeks they had not even contacted me. They sent me a letter today asking me to contact customer service. I spent over an hour waiting on the phone to be then told that they had no idea why I was asked to contact them. The time I have wasted on the phone to Electric Ireland is frightening. I thought Eir were bad, until I had to deal with Electric Ireland. I would give 0 stars if I could.
Several reasons to complain. The main one is for misleading advertising, which is very serious and against the law. We only hired Electric Ireland because they were offering a Google Nest Hub for people who had a Smart Meter and hired a Smart plan for one year. We hired the plan and were told we were getting the device within 2 weeks. Over the year we called them literally dozens of times requesting that the device was sent and every time they had a different excuse, saying that it was stuck in the backlog, and redirecting our call between sales and customer support. We stayed with them over one year and never got the device. Last time they said that the reason for that was because our Smart Plan was actually not deemed valid for the promotion for some reason - if that was true, shouldn't they have said that the very first time we called? Now we're trying to cancel the plan and even after calling a couple times they could not confirm that our account had been closed. Every time we call we spend at least 1 hour on the line to reach someone. It's beyond ridiculous and I'll be seeking legal compensation from this company.
If I could give a minus star, I would. I have never come across anything as bad in my life. I have been trying to change an MPRN number to my name for over 3 weeks. Almost 4 hours of phone call in and still not solved the issue. Just off the phone where I was told none of the managers were available to speak to me again. I was also told that nobody could call me back, they have left a note on the system. I have spoken with 4 managers all in at this stage, two of them promising to fix the issue. This is not complicated but maybe it is for some companies. David
Horrible experience. Wish there was option to give 0 or minus in reviews. Had to call customer service 3 times today. Waited 30-40 minutes each time on average before someone picked up. And each time my call was picked up, I was told my call needs to be transferred to a different team. All they did was put me on hold for an infinite time. I waited for 40-45 minutes each time and disconnected the call. Spent 4 hours of my precious time to reach them but failed. Worst thing is I just signed up last month and can't switch to new provider without facing a loss. One little piece of advice to those thinking about signing up with Electric Ireland -- DON'T!!!!!!
