These are easily the worst electrical provider, I pay more in a 1 bed apartment than my sisters 4 bedroom home 2 minutes away. A trick they use to prevent people from calling is to keep you on the phone for 45 minutes before you get to speak to someone.
Avoid at all costs!!! This is not a company that stands up to its word. Buying in the first passive housing estate brought with it the option to sign up with Electric Ireland for 3 years with free electricity through the night (prepay). Turns our that Electric Ireland did not follow through with this and when the 3 years were up they sent out a statement that showed that they had been charging us a night rate all along. I called the company to explain that they have overcharged us and the only response I got was "we do not do a deal like that". Completely immoral what they have done, getting people to sign up under false pretenses. I should have know given the builder (Durkan Residential) they had the agreement with. Do avoid Electric Ireland at all costs. Robbery seems to be their forte.
Absolutely shamful treatment of customers. I really regret moving to Electric Ireland. I was promised a Nest thermostat. I paid €400. I was stood up 3 times. I took 4 half days from work for appointments and no fitter and no explanation. Disgraceful. Follow up - Fitter came on 5th appointment and said I would have to have a new time clock fitted and shown to be working before he could fit a Nest. These guys baically want the job to be fully wired for them. Useless. I'll do it myself. Follow up : Eventually my complaint was addressed by Electric Ireland. In fairness when I eventually got the right person my issues were addressed to my satisfaction. They need to get rid of the thermostat fitters, KN networks, as they are useless. I was told my thermostat couldn't be fitted, another fitter replaced it in about 15 minutes.
Absolutely dreadful company. Used to top up by €15 per week with Bord Gas, now we're topping up by between €40 and €60 per week with Electric Ireland. They say nothing is wrong but obviously something is. If your credit runs out when your away from home then your in trouble as the emergency won't kick in and remote top up won't restore your power. My advice is avoid at all costs, this company is only interested in ripping off customers.
Do not under any circumstances do business with this company. Their invoicing is insane and their customer service inept. Don't fall for their switching offers. It's a trap to raise your stress level for the next 12 months and they will bathe in your tears.
Worst company to deal with, charging rip off prices while making record profits. I was trying to work out a direct debt with them and they refused to in anyway compromise and hung up the phone while I was speaking. DO NOT JOIN THIS COMPANY!!
I have experienced poor customer service before but nothing as bad as today's call to Electric Ireland after moving home. Ticked all boxes for: - Sarcasm - Unhelpfulness - Bad attitude - Lack of knowledge - Poor communication - Blame the customer - Treating customer like dirt - Being offended and acting the victim when customer has cheek to complain Zero competence for: - Problem solving - Complaint handling - Ideas
What an awful company. They won’t answer emails. Just an automated service. You can’t ring them as it takes so long to speak to someone. I was told I could online chat but it’s not available either. For such a profitable company that keep increasing charges, despite their profits rocketing, on the back of people struggling, it’s an appalling service. I know all I will receive from this is just the usual, I’m sorry you had a bad experience, etc . They don’t even deserve one star. All we want is to get the meter name updated, but it looks like that will take years.
Be aware this company is just a scam. Will empty your account even if you don't use any electricity. I have Never got receipt less than €250. I moved to enirgia and with same usage I paid half of that or even less €130. I'm waring you stay away
Electricity got cut off due to an "error on their side" even though I had taken the account taken over after moving into new place. They expect you to stay without electricity for 2 days even though issue was on their side. Customer service unhelpfull and all they say is they are "sorry". No resposibility taken whatsoever. Real lack of customer obsession. Really bad experience with this company stay away!
Horrendous customer service. Been over a week trying to access my account, no one will help on their team. I have been in touch with at least 11 different support members, all of which have told me there is nothing they can do to help. Will not send me my final bill or help me access my online account to retrieve this. Really really terrible experience with them and would not recommend Electric Ireland to anyone .
We've been disappointed time and time again with Electric Ireland. There's absolute zero consistency between calls. It's like they don't log or have record of any calls made. Their customer service team 99% of the time are infuriating. Citing the text in front of them, with nothing but an automated robot like response to your queries. The amount of time that has been wasted speaking to the team, we were genuinely going around in circles every time. If I could give them a zero rating, I would.
They are robbers . Be careful joining them. They never gave me 5% discount for paying direct debit. When I check the bills n realised that I am not getting in my 5% discount I rang them . They said we can start from today unfortunately we can't give you refund for previous bills. They said it was my responsibility to check every bill and make sure that discount is being applied or not.they didn't even apologized.
I was with you for 6 year now . Lately the prices for electricity they are mad expensive. Calling and trying to ask about your bill or any type of information is useless . The staff is definitely not all trained the same because they give different information. All you do by calling you is losing time . They all give you different information and when you think you did all they said , you speak with somebody else and they say something different. Today I call again for the same reason like a called for a few months but nobody is able to fix it . I was left speaking on my own because the member of the staff hang up the phone .
This is an update. In the interest of fairness, I need to point out that the original error was with Energia. However, this does not alter my opinion of Electric Ireland. Within a matter of weeks and some negotiation, Energia and I agreed on a compensation package plus an agreement on discounts in the future. An absolute pleasure to deal with. In contrast, EI, despite being at fault for allowing 6 bills worth of arrears to mount up ( well according the Electricity and Gas Regulator's Handbook, they were ) it was a torturous route to get a minor amount of compensation and a payment plan. And the problems are still ongoing. I was on paperless billing. No electronic reminders that a bill was due. Changed to paper billing, no paper bill. ( It might interest you to know that gmail blocks EI's mails or so I was told by the electronic billing section. And I believe in fairies ). I find a charge on my last bill for a field agent visit ( €39 ). No such visit. Credit control still employ ignorant staff. When I rang CC the yoke that answered had, shall we say, a less than pleasant attitude. ( No change there so ). Until I told her I was recording the conversation. Oops, quick change. Anyway, to summarise, the original FUBAR was Energia's. Dealt with pleasantly and speedily. Everything else down to EI and dealt with laboriously and unpleasantly by most of the staff I dealt with ( I did come across one or two who were both pleasant and intelligent, not enough though to mitigate the other feebles I encountered.) So that's the update. And nothing has changed my opinion that EI should be avoided like the plaque, no matter what discounts or deals it offers. In December, I switched to Energia for both gas and lecy. All good. Between new boiler and controls, energia charges and good summer, my bills dropped significantly over the 12 months. This morning I got a nice surprise from Electric Ireland - a bill for €1159.53 for the last 12 months. I called their credit control dept., explained the situation and was, no, Electric has been supplying you all along. I pointed out that I had switched to Energia and the person suggested that I was confused and maybe it was elecricity I was paying to Energia. Suggested I should ring Energia. She started to reel off the bills that I had apparently not paid since December 2017. Getting no where fast, I asked to speak to a supervisor, again explained the problem. He told me if I ring Gas Networks Ireland they would tell that Electric Ireland are my suppliers of gas. By now I am not a little irritated. I pointed out that I had conducted the transfer of services correctly on my end, that the probleml way with either Elec Ireland, Energia or Gas Networks. That I had no intention of phoning anyone else as it was Electric Ireland that was billing me for a service I was receiving from Energia and paying for same and I had evidence of this. Other words were exchanged and this supervisor told me that he was disconnecting the call as I was not engaging. He hung up. So, I have a demand for €1160 from these muppets for a 12 month period of which included some the hottest weather on record. It might be noted that this is the first correspondence received and it beggars belief that any company would allow this amount of arrears with earlier correspondence or disconnection. It might be of interest that my total bills for the same 12 month period from Energia amounted to approximately €350. So the saga begins.
I would give even that one start. EI and their communication servise is absolutely awful. I had an issue with registration because of my bank account. It has been 7 months and they are not able to close my account. I still have been receiving letters and even that I have spoke with their assistants via email or phone call XXX times no success, they do not communicate between each other or I do not know what they do.
Customer service is appaling. I'm locked out of my online account. Conscious of high call volumes, I've been emailing since October 7th but no reply.
Very Helpful when closing my late mothers account so I could take over it. Informative emails as well. Highly recommend. Thank you
Customer service is appalling, i am currently on hold waiting for her to check an outstanding bill. She has not returned in 15 minutes, a courtesy message to say she is still looking into it for me would have been appreciated but this is disgraceful..
A greedy, price gouging, war profiteering company. What else can i really say to get you to avoid these people!? Electric ireland was leading the whole price gouging here in ireland. They are fully to blame for the ridiculous and outrages prices of electricity in Ireland and we should make electric ireland suffer like they're making us suffer by simply not signing up with them and/or leaving them for another company. Would be nice to watch them fade away while they reap none of the benefits for the criminal price increases they caused.
