It takes ages to get through to a customer service agent. Once you have somebody on the phone, they aren't very accommodating or understanding. I must have spent over 1 hour on hold and another 1 hour trying to sort out the issue spread over 3 phone calls. When you're that bad, I suppose the only way is up!
We have lived in our apartment for a year and a half now and have used this company. A few months ago they charged us with a bill of over €700, which is madness, as all of us work full time and are barely in the house most of the time. We had a nightmare trying to contact customer service and they just fobbed us off saying that if was an estimate bla bla bla, and it was so hard to get in contact with them, waiting so long for useless replies, that we ended up getting letters threatening to cut us off that we had no choice but to pay. Now, months later, we have received another bill, this time for €900 which is absurd; it makes absolutely no sense. There is no way in hell we have used this much electricity in 2-3 months. Now, we are all so scared, that is a ridiculous amount of money and we absolutely know this is incorrect and we are not paying this again. I want someone to contact me to get this sorted, it's completely wrong. I am definitely switching providers as by the looks of many other reviews, this is just what Electric Ireland do and they are a scam company. I am truly sick to my stomach how they can do this to people. Do not join this company under any circumstances
After closing my gas and electricity accounts and getting the bills put into the new tenants name, I continued to receive a bill which took money out of my bank account and it also took the exact same amount of money out of the new tenants bank account. I called Bord Gais customer service and the lady rudely told me it was not their issue and I should contact my bank. After contacting my bank they said that Bord Gais shouldn't have attempted to take the money after an account is closed. I then filled out a direct debit refund form for my bank and months later Bord Gais send a letter telling me they owe me money and would like to know how I would like it returned to my old address. If it wasn't for the current tenants letting me know there was mail for me I would have never got my money back. I then rang their customer service again and told them I would like it sent to my bank account. Two weeks later and the money wasn't there so I called again and had to get them to refund the money again, they said it should be there at a maximum of 9 working days. It's taking months to get money back that I am owed after the initial girl told me it's not their problem. I'm not sure if it's Bord Gais as a whole that are terrible at providing a service or if it's an issue with the customer service as every time I have to call them there is an issue.
The worst gas company ever. I rang them twice this morning and got a different responde each time. Then tried my luck on Online Chat which was the only helpful bit, and advised to call to schedule a repair, there's a charge of e99 to have someone calling over to only have a look. What a joke! I basically contacted 4 different people and got 4 different way to how not getting any support from Bord Gais! Now my next call will be to switch companies.
Horrific customer service and false advertising. Street clear of level pay. Sign up for it at your peril. Increased from 101 to 202 in space of a year. After repeated attempts to get through why my bill was rising astronomically I live by myself. And 404 every two months with 505 on balance outstanding. Stay well clear

If I could give 0 rating I would. Have been overcharged on our gas meter. Told we would get a refund within 4 weeks. Weeks and weeks later and still nothing. Can’t get to speak to anyone in charge.
I do not recommend !!! liars cheaters!! the government grants a loan on the Christmas bill to make it a good Christmas and this company can ruin such a day

Tried switching electricity to Bord Gais after being assured it was a simple process, 8 weeks later and 10 phone calls and they still cant get it done. Staff constantly deliver empty promises to get you off the line. Don't return calls when they say they will. Worst experience with a company ever. Would not recommend to anyone
Terrible customer service. Agents can't even speak English. Switched gas and electricity over. Board gais hiked prices 30 per cent next day. No mention of price increase when switching. Takes for ever to even try and explain anything to customer service if your lucky to get a hold of them. Won't be back board gais....thanks but no thanks
An absolute disgrace to deal with. If you think SKY are bad I can assure you that bord gais are twice if not ten times worse. Without question the worse sales / customer service I have had the misfortune to encounter. I bought a new house in which the previous owner had pay as you go gas and electric accounts with bord gais .I contacted them to switch the house back to regular bills in my name, on a bord gais Duel fuel deal, at which point the whole farce began. Beyond a joke. Take my advice and avoid, you don't need the frustration I've had.... So far. It's still ongoing. It's too late for me,but save yourself!
Sending the meter reading for Bord Gais is an absolute joke. You get the email that "it is now time to submit your meter reading".. you go online on their website, enter the reading, end you invariably get a nice red "Reading submission error" message... Absolutely useless. For every reading i have to enter it directly at ESB and Gas Networks

This people are unprofessional . Just I want to change the name they took 4 months. Still is not done yet. If i call them they just talk to they don't give any solution. I've been calling them long enough now I'm fed up. I've been emailing them as well. They don't give any solution. Because they're not professional. Now I'm searching for another company to go. I'm so surprised about they're behavior. people don't go to this company .
Just spoke to somebody in bord gais about my bills getting higher & higher. My bills were originally about €80 & €70 a month (gas & electricity), that was 2 years ago. I am now paying €114 & €81 a month !!!! I live in a 2 bed house, built 2005,well insulated, energy efficient bulbs throughout.Familly of three.We have been away, house has been non used for multiple 2 week periods. Yet the bills have gradually increased & increase, even in the summer when we don't even use the gas !!!!!!!They never contact us to say their rates have decreased, they always want more & more!! I rang Bord gais last month & explained this & they informed me they would give me a 28% discount!!!! Great, so I signed up for that. Was told that they would be withdrawing €80 & €65 from my account from next month forward. Checked my bank balance today & they withdrew €114 & €81.Rang them again & explained what I was due to be charged, the conversation became difficult to understand, because I was hearing stuff I didn't really understand due to mad lingo words & figures.I basically realised that the previous offer I was offered was a lie. So I gradually got frustrated over the phone & told the lady that I didn't mean to be rude ,but I had to hang up & price around.
Unfortunately I can't rate less than 1 star, but if that would be possible I would do so. Customer support is horrible. I have tried to talk to the advisor for 2 days, spent more than 3-4 hours on the phone - they hanged up few times. Avoid at any cost
Worst ever! They have left us 1 month without heating with 3 kids over the Christmas time and New Years. They never call back and are useless. They came and left time and time again nowing that we were here in a freezing home. I am utterly discused at the way they are treating us. Our heating still isn’t fixed and the man on the phone refuses to transfer us to a manager. Completely disrespectful and highly rude of them.
I called them on the 25/11, to change the account over to my name as recently moved into new premises, spent 30 mins on the phone talking to a useless fella that couldn't even find the premises in their system... But according to him everything was up and running. Got a visitation from ESB network today (04/12) and they wanted to disconnect my electricity. Called bord gais and they said ive never called them before! My account didn't exist but somehow they knew all my details even tho I've never had an account with them before. Completely utterly useless company with unprofessional and uneducated people in their call centre! Stay away it'll save you a lot of time.
Worst customer service across the entire company. Tried to pay a bill online and won't recognise my account, tred calling and keeps ringing out, then disconnects. Twice I have had to reload my DD details as they keep mismanaged them. Shocking
