NRG Panel

We recently had Solar panels installed and NRG panel looked after the whole project from start to finish. First they sent out a surveyor to check the roof for fitting the panels and also to check out wiring for them. After the Solar panels were installed they organised everything to do with the SEAI grant, the BER survey and sent details to our provider Electric Ireland. Overall we are very happy that we selected NRG panel and would have no hesitation recommending them.

Avoid this firm. I contacted them in July 2024 about getting heat pump installed. Appointment made, and they dropped the ball. Another appointment made, I took day off work, and then I was told that it was a phone survey. And then an hour later another call from them to do the exact survey again. Left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. I was then told that the following week that the surveyor (JM) would be out in person. Never happened. I emailed him three times and he never responded. I also phoned the office to speak with a Manager and was put on a LOOOONG hold and gave up in the end as I am sure the receptionist had no intention of putting me through to anybody. Avoid this firm. Awful. Waste of two months.

Originally I contacted Electric Ireland to get solar panels installed in our house (Dublin). But was soon passed on to NRG panels. After virtual review the said they could install 10 panels at an OK price. So I agreed, and paid deposit. It was down hill form there. Apparently I was passed on to another subcontractor KN. One guy turned up at the house at the agreed date for site inspection. Without asking, first thing he done was to drill holes in our front wall to support his ladder. He the told us that they could not install 10 panels, but would actually be 5 to 6 max depending ‘on who turned up to do the job’. He recommended that I just cancel the whole job. But I said I still wanted to proceed He then asked to come inside to look for locations for the inverter. He appeared more interested in everything expect the location of the inverter. Some of the questions he asked about stuff in the house seemed inappropriate. After agreeing a location. He left saying that he would send a report through NRG in the next few days. Nothing came for nearly 3 weeks. When I followed up, I was told that ‘I asked the install to be delayed until after renovation work and been done to the house’ . I told the lady in the office that this was not true and I was told that KN would contact me the next day. After a week I gave up and asked for my deposit back. Just appalling treatment all round. 7 weeks wasted.

Excellent company to deal with. Very efficient & helpful from James who was our first contact , to all the lads who installed our panels & connected the battery & did all the electrical work, to Sean who did our BER assessment & all office staff who oversaw the paperwork. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.

4 stars because of how quick the assessments and inquiry stage were, installation was also quick, clean, and seamless. Would have been 5 stars if not for the delay in installation: HP technical assessment done in May, installation was in late July-Aug. I was left without any update on when the installation will be not until I called them to say my existing hot water cylinder then was about to fail thus leaving me without hot water, and with the pending installation of my HP system, I really don't see the need on having it repaired. It took them about two weeks to organise installation then.
